International summer academy in American Studies 2012 in Washington, D.C.

 

The Bavarian American Academy

  • organizes international conferences
  • promotes the exchange of not only international (primarily transatlantic) but also national academic research through organization and co-ordination of fellowship programs, summer academies, lecture tours and symposia; it arranges invitations of visiting professors staying in Bavaria to other universities of this state
  • supports and organizes academic co-operation between Bavarian scholars
  • develops and proposes focal areas of research
  • organizes and co-ordinates university courses (partly open to the public) to be shared by several campuses
  • supports post-graduate research through scholarships, a special research award, and sponsorship of graduate conferences
  • since 2010 the BAA hosts the Eva Hesse Archive of Modernism and Literary Translation.
  • organizes programs (including teacher training seminars) directed by members of scientific, political, economical, administrative and cultural institutions.
